ISO Tank Operators India

SCL has gained a reputation as a leading International service provider for ISO Tanks with a wide range of services offering more flexibility & total logistics solutions to our customer’s. We handle Imports as well as exports from / to worldwide locations through overseas representation and global tank management for SOC tanks carrying highly hazardous cargoes.

Space Economy

ISO tanks can be stacked with one another or with dry box containers, offering economical space allocation on vessels and as temporary storage.

Efficiency

ISO tanks allow repetitive, large capacity haulage without the need for auxiliary packing materials. A 20-ft ISO tank container can transport up to 60-70% more cargo when compared against loading a regular 20-ft dry box container with drums. The pre-installed steam coil allows efficient loading/discharge of temperature sensitive liquids.

Greater Flexibility

ISO tank containers enable inter-modal logistics between various modes of transportation including sea vessels, trucks, and rails. It offers greater flexibility in planning as well as reducing costs and carbon footprints.

Environmentally Friendly

Reported leaks from ISO tank containers are extremely rare and the risk of spillage upon transportation / discharge is vastly reduced when compared against drums or flexi-bags. The ISO tank container is capable of carrying greater volume per container (up to 26,000 liters per tank) and can be transported on railroads; thereby greatly reducing carbon footprints. In addition, its versatility in carrying variety of cargoes effectively reduces the need for empty re-positioning. It also has a long lifespan (approximately 35 years) while drums and flexi-bags has a much shorter lifespan and are rarely recycled.

Why an ISO Tank?

IAn ISO Tank is a tank container is built to the ISO standards International Organisation for Standardisation. thus ISO tanks are suitable for different modes of transportation are designed to carry liquids and gases in bulk, both hazardous and non-hazardous.

The tank container is made of stainless steel and is surrounded by various types of protective layers. It has a manhole on the top along with at least one valve and another valve on the bottom. They are shaped like a cylinder.

Because ISO tanks are built to the ISO standard, the frame which the tank sits in measures about 6 metres long, 2.4 metres wide and between 2.4-2.5 metres high. The tanks vary in size and type and can carry between 17,500 and 40,000 litres of liquid.

Tank Containers are usually cladded (insulated) which provides insulation to its contents as well as protection from external impacts.

All the valves belonging to a Tank Container are inspected prior to every loading and approved by the relevant authorities. Tanks are pressurized and leak tested prior to loading.

Tank Containers very rarely leak. The risk of spillage upon loading, transportation and discharge is greatly reduced when compared against flexi-tanks and standard drums.

In addition, their versatility in carrying a variety of cargoes reduces the need for empty repositioning and disposal (such as drums and flexi –tanks) which reduces the overall tank hire rate.

A wide variety of chemicals can be loaded within standard ISO tank Containers (food grade, hazardous and non hazardous chemical commodities). There are specialist ISO tank containers available on the market today that can be used to load those commodities that cannot be loaded within standard ISO tank containers e.g. Sulphuric Acid.

Tank Containers come with the added benefit of having pre-installed steam coil which allows for the efficient loading / discharge of temperature sensitive liquids such as Phenol.

Compared to drums, tank containers are fast and safe to load/unload (provided that the loading site is adequately equipped to handle Tank Containers).

ISO tanks are majorly used for carrying liquids such as mining chemicals, acids, resins, oils, food products, solvents, Agro chemicals, Specialty chemicals, Aromatic chemicals, and alcoholic beverages
.
Having an ISO tank is advantageous because they are cost effective, highly reliable and the safest way of transporting liquids between locations.

Today, ISO Tank Containers are the preferred mode of transporting bulk liquids for their numerous safety benefits, versatility, ability to be used over and over again, intermodalism (transportation via sea, road and rail) and the economies of scale that they can offer shippers.
